Lead Environment Artist

Billy is a Lead Environment Artist with over 13 years of experience. He spent the majority of that time at Ubisoft Toronto, contributing to titles such as Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Far Cry 4, Far Cry Primal, Far Cry 5, and Far Cry 6. There, he worked his way from Environment Modeller through to Lead Artist and Associate Art Director, leading teams of various sizes and complexity while also working closely with technical departments in the development of project-wide visual features. He is currently at Respawn Entertainment, recently having shipped Star Wars Jedi Survivor and now working on a yet-to-be announced title.

With a strong background in various aspects of Environment Art, Billy is highly skilled in multiple facets of world art creation, including modelling, scene assembly, modular mesh and texture workflows, foliage, and environmental storytelling.

Billy has also been teaching Game Art courses at George Brown College and Seneca College for nearly 10 years, as well as providing private Mentorships for the past 6 years.

Environment Art Mentorship

This mentorship includes 5 hours of one-on one training, custom tailored to suit the mentees specific needs. We will build a development plan together in order to level-up your skills and help achieve your goals.

We will cover various aspects of Environment Art creation, from planning and reference gathering, modular mesh and texture workflows, foliage creation and optimization, through to scene assembly and final render techniques.

The mentorship is designed to help break through plateaus, build confidence, increase technical aptitude, and provide a clear path of continued growth and success.
